The previous developer, Tobias Rundstr=F6m, used your xmms2 logo concept 2 in that program. I would like to continue using that logo (or the xmms2 logo concept 3) and wanted to ask you if that's ok. If it's ok to use your logo for promoe, I also need to know which license it can be distributed, because Linux distributions usually want that information if software is packaged. Regards Thomas =============================================================================== From aj.ashton@gmail.com Sat Aug 29 18:28:26 2009 Delivered-To: thomas.frauendorfer@gmail.com Received: by 10.231.33.193 with SMTP id i1cs154621ibd; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 09:28:14 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.220.3.220 with SMTP id 28mr2967787vco.82.1251563293678; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 09:28:13 -0700 (PDT) Return-Path: Received: from mail-qy0-f186.google.com (mail-qy0-f186.google.com [209.85.221.186]) by mx.google.com with ESMTP id 41si3263785vws.34.2009.08.29.09.28.12; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 09:28:12 -0700 (PDT) Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of aj.ashton@gmail.com designates 209.85.221.186 as permitted sender) client-ip=209.85.221.186; Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=pass (google.com: domain of aj.ashton@gmail.com designates 209.85.221.186 as permitted sender) smtp.mail=aj.ashton@gmail.com; dkim=pass (test mode) header.i=@gmail.com Received: by qyk16 with SMTP id 16so216655qyk.20 for ; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 09:28:12 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:from:to:subject:date :user-agent:references:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type :content-transfer-encoding:message-id; bh=VbWRLPOF4vszJvA8KzH/imW3VEOaSozOj+uexXB6BLc=; b=Hc/vPZ2gPXe/f0ftX8lfB2VQS+XGygIN8vLJSv8v9kQxGUbeMSejCjtcuQGRvV8C/r drifOl/5pyYipPXUrVZZrMpgDjfmSnrR49ZdJX7kLLlcrl+rCDDkwpfAYr0HsRkMEdun hVLTFV5cr4+qtpSUxWk8ggyS/O5ZABK/Oykls= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=from:to:subject:date:user-agent:references:in-reply-to:mime-version :content-type:content-transfer-encoding:message-id; b=aS2Nh9ng4OoiEyaEpO+hoDTQHC5gGi1hD7HTTkeooRRgYcRZsCtUVlo26lXvvi92LR 0klQOjkcArtw4cC2NlKNuw716hlJKzJyBtExXavu5otW90uXP9b0v1cekh5Wt4eZAm7C 7BTduaSZmsKUBYxTKFm1By4m6jTkLgJLu6O3U= Received: by 10.224.58.15 with SMTP id e15mr2070960qah.221.1251563291695; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 09:28:11 -0700 (PDT) Return-Path: Received: from xps.localnet (pool-71-255-238-246.washdc.east.verizon.net [71.255.238.246]) by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id 5sm3481332qwh.33.2009.08.29.09.28.10 (version=SSLv3 cipher=RC4-MD5); Sat, 29 Aug 2009 09:28:10 -0700 (PDT) From: AJ Ashton To: Thomas Frauendorfer Subject: Re: xmms2 logo concept Date: Sat, 29 Aug 2009 12:28:26 -0400 User-Agent: KMail/1.12.0 (Linux/2.6.30-ARCH; KDE/4.3.0; x86_64; ; ) References: In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Message-Id: <200908291228.26247.aj.ashton@gmail.com> X-Length: 3736 X-UID: 806 On Saturday 29 August 2009 06:39:08 you wrote: > Hi, > > I'm the current developer of promoe, a xmms2 client. I'm pretty open about licensing - whichever GPL / Creative Commons / other= =20 license will work best for the project is probably fine with me. I don't have the svg files yet, I only have a PNG file. Just let= me > know. The GPL and the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike (CC-BY-SA) v3.0 Licenses are considered free by Debian. As the logo will be included into the binary but CC-BY-SA seems to be better for creative works, I think dual licensing them under GPL 2 or later and CC-BY-SA v3.0 would be the best solution. --=20 Thomas =============================================================================== From aj.ashton@gmail.com Sat Aug 29 23:24:09 2009 Delivered-To: thomas.frauendorfer@gmail.com Received: by 10.231.33.193 with SMTP id i1cs162030ibd; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 14:23:59 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.224.115.152 with SMTP id i24mr2259383qaq.276.1251581039151; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 14:23:59 -0700 (PDT) Return-Path: Received: from mail-qy0-f199.google.com (mail-qy0-f199.google.com [209.85.221.199]) by mx.google.com with ESMTP id 35si4586934qyk.28.2009.08.29.14.23.57; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 14:23:58 -0700 (PDT) Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of aj.ashton@gmail.com designates 209.85.221.199 as permitted sender) client-ip=209.85.221.199; Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=pass (google.com: domain of aj.ashton@gmail.com designates 209.85.221.199 as permitted sender) smtp.mail=aj.ashton@gmail.com; dkim=pass (test mode) header.i=@gmail.com Received: by qyk37 with SMTP id 37so1898168qyk.11 for ; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 14:23:57 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:from:to:subject:date :user-agent:references:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type :message-id; bh=0vxEmZg3mDG9tp7zJi9ZjKLup5nBEtjJxyEErvS1j/k=; b=EHya43C67KohgSomurPkj+PyWmDRXndm7FPlVevQRqW5cd8k13YD8N5CckpX0W9X6a gSjifkB7V98aSiKz4sS34RkNMHabY4qJ+PIOFS5PaugLQ3Gvx2uPonSAi7zeTlpAIhRR KKb8tVH7VQV2HyBb2F4pzkKr4WVmJNfqr2Qfo= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=from:to:subject:date:user-agent:references:in-reply-to:mime-version :content-type:message-id; b=tvWpyuigIsJzCmr6Xr0RRQKQEs72czbR/fLiIKq2KXCYReuCQNY4TSRoMe8xl5d2kX oA3DP1I2tal+zBGvCHfa4qgbv/8FBIfKgr7cZoX5T8CxW2OoZy0v46ZDql6ugL5K/bNj drHE/VXHLnwHO/JFuFyh1Ji7VdraSYcZSsy2U= Received: by 10.224.44.89 with SMTP id z25mr2278401qae.153.1251581037804; Sat, 29 Aug 2009 14:23:57 -0700 (PDT) Return-Path: Received: from xps.localnet (pool-71-255-238-246.washdc.east.verizon.net [71.255.238.246]) by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id 7sm2651659qwf.16.2009.08.29.14.23.54 (version=SSLv3 cipher=RC4-MD5); Sat, 29 Aug 2009 14:23:56 -0700 (PDT) From: AJ Ashton To: Thomas Frauendorfer Subject: Re: xmms2 logo concept Date: Sat, 29 Aug 2009 17:24:09 -0400 User-Agent: KMail/1.12.0 (Linux/2.6.30-ARCH; KDE/4.3.0; x86_64; ; ) References: <200908291228.26247.aj.ashton@gmail.com> In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: Multipart/Mixed; boundary="Boundary-00=_5xZmKYQltTvMxMv" Message-Id: <200908291724.09405.aj.ashton@gmail.com> X-Length: 76842 X-UID: 808 --Boundary-00=_5xZmKYQltTvMxMv Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Thomas, On Saturday 29 August 2009 16:00:23 you wrote: > The GPL and the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike (CC-BY-SA) > v3.0 Licenses are considered free by Debian. > As the logo will be included into the binary but CC-BY-SA seems to be > better for creative works, I think dual licensing them > under GPL 2 or later and CC-BY-SA v3.0 would be the best solution. Sounds fine. Here are the SVGs, though they're not in the most icon-friendly state. I'd be happy to make some alterations to make it cleaner at standard icon sizes if you like. -- AJ Ashton --Boundary-00=_5xZmKYQltTvMxMv Content-Type: image/svg+xml; name="flame1.svg" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="flame1.svg" image/svg+xml xmms2 logo concepts by AJ Ashtonaj.ashton@gmail.com --Boundary-00=_5xZmKYQltTvMxMv Content-Type: image/svg+xml; name="flame2.svg" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="flame2.svg" image/svg+xml xmms2 logo concepts by AJ Ashtonaj.ashton@gmail.com --Boundary-00=_5xZmKYQltTvMxMv--
